Graphcore confirmed to CNBC that SoftBank has invested $457 million into the company since the 2024 acquisition. The capital, sources say, is being directed toward a new generation of intelligence-processing units and toward integration with SoftBank's broader AI infrastructure programme.

The investment formalises something that had been implicit since the deal closed: SoftBank views Graphcore not as a portfolio bet but as a strategic input to its work on artificial general intelligence.
