We correct errors promptly and transparently. Every correction is logged here and appended to the original article.

If you believe we have published an inaccuracy, please email corrections@theobsidian.com with the article title, the error, and a source or explanation. We aim to respond within 48 hours.
The original article stated that Chile produces 42% of the world's lithium. The correct figure is 24%. The article and infographic have been updated.
A quote attributed to General Amadou Ndiaye was incorrectly transcribed. The word 'withdrawal' should have read 'redeployment'. The transcript and article have been corrected.
Clarified that the 2.3% emissions figure refers to direct operational emissions, not the full lifecycle impact of AI training data centres.

Correction policy
Minor typographical or grammatical errors are corrected silently. Factual errors, misattributions, or significant numerical inaccuracies are corrected with a dated note appended to the article. Where a correction changes the meaning of a story in a material way, we publish a separate clarification article linked from the original.
