Fresh Highs on Wall Street as Nvidia Rallies and US-China Talks Resume

The S&P 500 and Nasdaq pushed to fresh records on Thursday, lifted by another leg up in Nvidia and renewed optimism around the next round of US-China trade talks.

Wall Street extended its rally on Thursday, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq closing at fresh highs as Nvidia rallied on cleared sales of its H200 accelerator to a defined list of Chinese customers and as Washington and Beijing prepared a new round of trade talks.

The mechanics of the move were familiar: a handful of mega-cap names doing most of the index work, breadth a step behind the headline number. Beneath the surface, the rotation back into semiconductors was the day's clearest story.

Whether the talks themselves produce anything beyond a communique is the open question. For now, the market is content to price the meeting rather than the outcome.
